A bit of background…
The Guild was originally set up by obstetric physiotherapists, Gillian Fletcher and Marion Grant, with the aim of taking over the National Childbirth Trust’s (NCT) delivery of specialist exercise. Gillian and Marion were behind the NCT’s postnatal exercise teacher training courses and this was to be continued under the auspices of the Guild until recent years.
Today the Guild’s main activities are:
- The running of this website: a place where women are welcome to search for fully qualified pregnancy and postnatal exercise teachers across the UK. Our members are not only fully qualified but also committed to keeping up to date with new research in this field through regular study days
- The setting up of study and training days for our members and non-members are welcome too
- The development of a supportive environment for teachers so that standards can be raised and maintained within this specialist field
- The publishing of our e-newsletter The Perinatal FitPro which includes up-to-date articles on exercise and wellbeing during pregnancy and the postnatal period
The Guild is a non-profit making organisation that aims to maintain high standards in the pregnancy and postnatal fitness industry.
