Heidi Dorschler has been teaching mat work Pilates since 2014 following completion of her training with Foundation Pilates trainers Alison Swan and Rachel Rafiefar. She is a qualified 'Pilates Mat Work Teacher Training' and 'CYQ' level 3 teacher with an additional ‘Pregnancy and Postnatal Pilates’ qualification from The Thoughtful Body. She is a member of the Independent Pilates Teachers Association and the Guild of Pregnancy and Postnatal Exercise Instructors.
Before training as a Pilates instructor, Heidi used Pilates for years to manage back injuries and hypermobility issues while working as a physical theatre performer, rowing surf boats competitively to world class level, and surfing for fun. She is a strong advocate of the benefits of Pilates to restore us back to pain-free movement. Heidi also teaches Pilates for Cscape Pilates in Falmouth.
Heidi's company HD Pilates Cornwall runs small classes in St Agnes and Truro, Cornwall. Classes focus on correct recruitment of muscles within tailored exercise programmes to improve alignment, aid flexibility, strengthen muscles, and improve health and wellbeing.
Prenatal & Postnatal classes address the effects that pregnancy and motherhood may place on the body, such as the changes to posture, changes in hormones affecting muscle tone, and the continual lifting and carrying of children, pushing of pushchairs etc. We will work to bring posture and alignment back to optimum health and target muscle groups that will support the spine and other skeletal systems that are challenged throughout your pregnancy and beyond.
NB: No specific classes are offered at present but 1:1’s, 2:1’s or small group classes in your own home are offered. Alternatively, you can be incorporated into the gentle Pilates classes with specific adaptations.
